Visit Queen Elizabeth Park, a 130-acre municipal park where we will visit their beautiful sunken gardens, featuring a plethora of seasonal flowers. Within Queen Elizabeth Park, visit the Bloedel Floral Conservatory, the country’s first geodesic conservatory built in 1969. Perched on Vancouver’s highest point, the Bloedel Floral Conservatory’s enclosed tropical garden houses over 500 exotic plants and flowers and more than 200 free-flying tropical birds!
Another beautiful destination is the VanDusen Botanical Gardens. Opened in 1975, there are 55 acres of immaculately cared for gardens to admire. Special features in the garden include carved totem poles, large stone sculptures, and a Korean Pavilion at the edge of the Asian plant collection.
An additional feature of these gardens is the lovely Shaughnessy Restaurant. Located amidst picturesque garden vistas in the heart of the VanDusen Botanical Gardens, it is the perfect setting for lunch, after visiting the gardens!

The University of British Columbia (UBC) campus is located 30 minutes from the heart of downtown Vancouver and is more than 400 hectares in size! Surrounded by forest and the Pacific Ocean, the stunning campus is one of the most scenic locations in Vancouver.
Located on campus, the UBC Botanical Gardens were opened in 1916 and include over 8,000 different kinds of plants, spread across 110 acres. Features include the David C. Lam Asian Garden, an alpine garden, a native plants garden, a food garden and a physic (medicinal) garden.
Visit Canada’s largest teaching museum, the Museum of Anthropology while on campus. This museum contains a diverse ethnographic collection, including beautiful artwork by First Nations artist Bill Reid, local works from Haida Gwaii, and several large Musqueam artifacts from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. About 40% of the museum’s collection is from Asia however, you will find works from all over the world, including Africa and the South Pacific.
UBC is located within the Pacific Spirit Regional Park (874 hectares), which contains more than 73 kilometres (45 miles) of walking and hiking trails, of which 50 kilometres (31 miles) are available for cycling and horseback riding.
The campus’s peaceful forest setting is filled with awe-inspiring ocean views. This area of the city is not to be missed.

Within Vancouver’s city core, you will find many holiday highlights. Ride the Bright Nights Christmas Train in Stanley Park and view three million twinkling lights displayed throughout the plaza. Experience the Vancouver Christmas market, an authentic German-inspired market at Jack Poole Plaza or visit Robson Square to see Vancouver’s famous 50 foot Christmas tree.
Further festivities can be enjoyed when visiting the Four Seasons’ Festival of Trees and the Avenue of Christmas Trees found at Canada Place. Be sure not to miss the Hyatt Regency’s Gingerbread Lane, an impressive display of gingerbread creations!
In the Olympic Village, you will find Enchant, the world’s largest Christmas light maze, and a unique Christmas market.
Pass by Elm Grove Park or the George Wainborn Park with decorated trees galore. Stop in at Granville Island to enjoy more of Vancouver’s holiday cheer.
Both St. Paul’s Hospital and the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice are entirely illuminated with brilliant light displays. Find some of the most impressively decorated local homes, as you drive by Hycroft Manion, or along Trinity Street in East Vancouver.

Steveston is also a popular filming location, and you may have seen this village on episodes of the X-Files, Supernatural, Stargate SG-1, Highlander: The Series, and Once Upon A Time.
