Perched on Vancouver’s highest point, the Bloedel Floral Conservatory’s enclosed tropical garden houses over 500 exotic plants and flowers and more than 200 free-flying tropical birds!

The University of British Columbia (UBC) campus is located 30 minutes from the heart of downtown Vancouver and is more than 400 hectares in size! Surrounded by forest and the Pacific Ocean, the stunning campus is one of the most scenic locations in Vancouver.

Located on campus, the UBC Botanical Gardens were opened in 1916 and include over 8,000 different kinds of plants, spread across 110 acres. Features include the David C. Lam Asian Garden, an alpine garden, a native plants garden, a food garden and a physic (medicinal) garden.

Visit Canada’s largest teaching museum, the Museum of Anthropology while on campus. This museum contains a diverse ethnographic collection, including beautiful artwork by First Nations artist Bill Reid, local works from Haida Gwaii, and several large Musqueam artifacts from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. About 40% of the museum’s collection is from Asia however, you will find works from all over the world, including Africa and the South Pacific.

UBC is located within the Pacific Spirit Regional Park (874 hectares), which contains more than 73 kilometres (45 miles) of walking and hiking trails, of which 50 kilometres (31 miles) are available for cycling and horseback riding.

The campus’s peaceful forest setting is filled with awe-inspiring ocean views. This area of the city is not to be missed.
