The Vancouver Art Gallery made its debut in 1931 with a small collection of British paintings and only seven works by Canadian artists. The Vancouver Art Gallery is now home to a permanent collection of over 10,000 artworks, featuring more than 200 major works by famous Canadian artists Emily Carr and other famous British Columbian artists.
See major works by some of the world’s leading contemporary artists and history’s greatest masters. Be sure not to miss the work of Emily Carr when spending your afternoon at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Emily Carr (December 13, 1871 – March 2, 1945), born in Victoria, B.C., is one of Canada’s most renowned artists, significant as a landscape painter and a modernist.
