Visit the beautiful Emily Carr Art Collection, a renowned landscape painter and author from Victoria (1871 – 1945), who worked with the famous Group of Seven. Step back in time to the Old Town where you can stroll through BC’s urban history – view what the Grand Hotel in Nanaimo looked like in 1890 and smell the cinnamon baking in a 1900s kitchen. Get a sense of what it would be like to be on the HMCS Discovery, a royal navy ship from 1789 that was part of George Vancouver’s exploration of the west coast of North America.

See what it would be like to work in a fishing cannery or in a coal mine in the early 1900’s. Be immersed in a replica of the brilliant coastal rainforest of Haida Gwaii, and see animals in their natural habitat. You can even visit an interactive gallery of a Victorian-era submarine.
